So I 'installed' it, or rather it seemed to install and reboot the system, but I couldn't workout if it had actually installed or done anything as there seemed to be no trace of it.Īn interpretation of the registry traces, based on the notes in the readme.txt indicated that the utility was running in 'TESTONLY' mode. My first surprise was that Dell doesn't seem to pre-install this software (a quick look through the menu's and installed programs did not reveal any traces), particularly as it is listed as the top priority driver to install in the "Installing Drivers in the Correct Order" article. Hence this utility naturally caught my eye and seemed useful to me from the thumbnail description given. The clear advantage of this software is that the user never has to wade through the drivers/software downloads listings on the support site and determine if any were applicable). Having used Thinkpads, I am used to their "ThinkVantage System Update" utility a simplistic but highly usable utility that is normally run manually and ensures all the IBM/Lenovo software was up-to-date along with any specific MS updates/fixes.
